The Great Dance | Particle Shift

The Great Dance, the ‘void’ as a relational field.

Guy Fleisher’s performance PARTICLE SHIFT amplifies this premise, translating a rotating structure by Carlos Mensil that projects light through space in an 8.1 spatial audio architecture. Using spectral manipulation, Fleisher isolates discrete frequencies—sonic “particles”—and propels them through the room, mimicking the refractive behavior of light.
This is not merely ambient sound; it is a phenomenological investigation into Rovelli’s quantum theory. By dissolving the boundary between the observer and the acoustic event, the work renders the exhibition’s invisible “mesh” palpable, turning the air itself into a vibrating, structural medium.
