Ecologias da Água

This organization seeks to address societal challenges by fostering a dialogue between art, science, and education, running educational programs and supporting interdisciplinary artistic research to stimulate critical thinking, promote collaboration, and collectively create and share knowledge for a sustainable and inclusive future.

During the residency, I mapped out the sonic region of the Rio Lis, from its source to the city of Leiria, as it ebbs and flows, in curves and through villages and agricultural areas surrounding the urban area of Leiria. We held local visits to the underground source, visited local agro-farming initiatives to learn about the local habitat as well as an informal visit to the University of Leiria’s bio-labs to investigate samples of bacteria and microbial life of the river. We held many field trips to cover ground-work on the route of the river, and made many field recordings and impressions.
